A Portmanteau of Merit and Heritage 2019
the hatch wines

the taste
The nose has just a touch of dark chocolate mixed in with the very prevalent aromas of plum and cherry. The tannins are soft and fine-grained, and the wine has a long lingering finish of earthy goodness, leather, spice and a little smokey somethin-somethin. Great with Pork Tenderloin, or Poutine with Miso Gravy. Even better drink a glass while floating under the Port Mann Bridge in a boat. (See what we did there?)
the story
With Screaming Frenzy leaving the nest and us now without a Meritage, we had some big shoes to fill. First off was the name, we couldn’t just call it Meritage, that would be too easy, and what the heck does Meritage even come from? (Goes to Wikipedia…) Ahhhhh, well there we go! Our new name: A Portmanteau of Merit and Heritage! It kind of rolls off the tongue...
